Description
Ficus elastica ‘Burgundy’ has deep maroon-black leaves so glossy they almost look lacquered. It is a rubber plant at heart, which means it is sturdy, upright, and grows into real architecture for a room over time.
We like it for people who want drama without the fuss — the dark color reads as moody and intentional against a light wall, and unlike some of its tropical neighbors, it does not sulk if you miss a watering here and there.
Care
- Bright, indirect light brings out the deepest color in the leaves
- Water when the top two inches of soil are dry
- Wipe down leaves occasionally to keep that signature shine
- Toxic if ingested — keep away from pets and small children
