Shipping a living thing across the country is a genuinely different job than shipping a book or a sweater, and we’ve built our shipping schedule entirely around what’s actually good for the plant, even when that means a slightly longer wait for you.
When we ship
We ship live plants via USPS Priority Mail on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday only. This is intentional: it keeps every plant we send out of a sorting facility or a delivery truck over the weekend, when packages can sit unmoved for an extra day or two with no one checking on them. A plant that ships Wednesday and might otherwise sit through Saturday and Sunday in transit is a plant we’d rather hold and ship the following Monday instead. Orders placed Thursday through Sunday go out the following Monday.
We currently ship to the continental United States only. Our growers, our climate, and our packaging are all tuned to that shipping distance, and we’d rather not send a plant somewhere we can’t stand behind the trip.
Winter shipping
From roughly November through March, we include a heat pack in every plant shipment at no extra cost, and we’ll hold or delay shipping entirely to any region forecasting a hard freeze along the delivery route. We’d rather your plant arrive a few days late than arrive having spent a night at 15 degrees in a truck.
Shipping cost
Shipping is a flat $8 per order, or free on orders over $75. Pots, tools, soil, and other non-plant items ship on the same schedule as everything else and don’t require the same weather planning, but we bundle them into the same box as any plants in your order to keep shipping simple and affordable.
Our live-arrival guarantee
Every plant we ship is covered by our live-arrival guarantee. If your plant arrives damaged or in poor condition, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with a photo and we’ll make it right with a replacement or store credit. Full terms are on our 30-Day Plant Guarantee page.
Returns
Pots, tools, soil, and other hard goods can be returned within 30 days in unused condition for a refund or exchange. Because of their nature, live plants aren’t eligible for a standard return once they’ve safely arrived and settled in — instead, any issues with plant health or condition are handled through our live-arrival and 30-day guarantees rather than a traditional return.
