We stand behind the plants we sell, both in the shop and shipped to your door. Here’s exactly what that means.
The 30 days
If a plant purchased from Fernseed, in-store or online, dies or declines seriously within 30 days of the purchase or delivery date, we’ll offer a replacement of the same or similar plant, or store credit for the purchase price, your choice. We just ask for one thing in return: a clear photo of the plant showing the issue, sent to us before the 30 days are up. This helps us understand what happened and, honestly, helps us get better at growing and shipping in the future.
What’s covered
- Plants that arrive damaged, broken, or in poor health from shipping.
- Plants that decline significantly under normal, reasonable care within the 30-day window.
- Pest issues that were present at the time of purchase rather than introduced afterward.
What isn’t covered
The guarantee covers plants that fail despite reasonable care — it isn’t a substitute for care itself. A few things fall outside it:
- Overwatering after the plant is in your care. Root rot from watering on a fixed schedule rather than checking the soil is the single most common cause of plant loss we see, and it isn’t something we can guarantee against.
- Pet damage. A plant chewed, dug up, or knocked over by a cat or dog isn’t a plant that failed.
- Exposure damage after delivery, such as leaving a plant in a hot car, on a freezing porch overnight, or in direct sun it wasn’t suited for.
If you’re ever unsure whether something falls under the guarantee, just ask. We’d rather look at a photo and tell you honestly than have you assume the worst either way.
