Monstera Albo Variegata

(1 customer review)

Price range: $145.00 through $260.00

Striking white-and-green variegation that grows slowly and unpredictably, which is exactly why this rare monstera costs what it does.

SKU: FS-2017 Category:

Description

Monstera albo is a variegated sport of the classic Monstera deliciosa — the same dramatic split leaves, but streaked and blocked with pure white where the plant simply cannot produce chlorophyll. It is one of the most sought-after houseplants in the world right now, and the price reflects that.

Variegation like this is unstable and slow to propagate; a cutting can revert to solid green, and the white sections grow more gradually since they cannot photosynthesize on their own. We source ours carefully, in small numbers, from our greenhouse partners in Boring, Oregon, and every leaf pattern is genuinely one of a kind.

Care

  • Bright, indirect light — the white sections can scorch faster than the green ones
  • Water when the top two inches of soil are dry
  • Higher humidity helps new leaves unfurl properly and fully
  • Toxic to pets — an easy plant to keep out of reach given its price tag alone

The variegation on mine is stunning, half-moon on two leaves. Pricey but this is the real thing, well established and rooted.
