Fiddle-Leaf Fig

(1 customer review)

Price range: $34.00 through $98.00

A dramatic, statuesque houseplant with violin-shaped leaves that wants a bright, stable spot and a little patience from you.

SKU: FS-2002 Category:

Description

Ficus lyrata has a reputation, and it is mostly earned — those big, violin-shaped leaves are gorgeous and also just a little bit dramatic about everything. Draft it, move it, overwater it once, and it will let you know with a dropped leaf or two.

That said, once a fiddle-leaf fig settles into a spot it likes, it holds still and gets tall, glossy, and genuinely striking — the kind of statement plant that makes a room feel finished. In Portland’s low winter light we recommend the brightest window you have and a little patience through the gray months; it will reward you come spring.

Care

  • Bright, indirect light; some direct morning sun is welcome
  • Water when the top inch or two of soil dries out — consistency matters more than frequency
  • Wipe leaves occasionally so they can breathe and catch what light they can
  • Mildly toxic to pets if ingested

Beautiful tree but be warned, it dropped two leaves the first week (they say this is normal for fiddles and it did stop). Recovered nicely.
